Author Information

This page contains information for the presenters at ACM Multimedia. Additionally, please watch your email for any messages that you might receive from the conference organizers with additional details.

The following points apply to everyone:

  • ACM Multimedia 2019 emphasizes interaction between the conference participants. In order to have enough time for questions, you should practice your oral presentation in order to make sure that it fits elegantly into the time slot allocated to you.
  • Screen aspect ratio for all presentations is: 16/9.
  • Presentation rooms are equipped with audio.
  • Put your paper number (as listed in the conference program) at the bottom of each of your presentation slides. It will help people find your poster.
  • During the break before your session, go to your presentation room and load your presentation onto the presentation laptop.
  • Poster size for all posters is A0 (width x height = 841 × 1189 mm = 33.1 × 46.8 inches) portrait format.
  • Put your email address on the poster: it will help people find your poster and contact you.
  • Posters will hang the whole conference, so you have the opportunity to discuss your work with conference participants at any time during the conference.
  • Ensure that you are standing at your poster, presenting your work and discussing with conference participants, during the entire poster session/period to which you are assigned (see the information below on your session/period).
  • You can put up your poster Tuesday morning before the keynote or Tuesday morning during the Refreshments break or during lunch. Put up your poster as soon as possible.
  • Look for the poster board that has your paper number on it, and hang your poster there. (Note that these are the numbers listed in the conference program, and not the EasyChair or the Sheridan number.)

Below you will find specific information on the individual tracks.

Main conference track

All authors of main conference track papers will present their work in both of two ways:

  • As a (short) oral presentation. The oral presentations are either 10 min. or 2 min. long.
  • As a poster. All posters will hang for the duration of the main conference. Additionally, authors will stand at their poster during one period of the Tuesday poster session or of the Wednesday poster session. Further information is below.

In order to determine whether you have a 10 minute or a 2 minute presentation and in order to know which poster session/period you are presenting in, please do the following steps:

  • Find your paper in the conference program: https://acmmm.org/conference-program/
  • If there is a * next to your paper program ID number, i.e., *P1D-01, then you should prepare a 10 minute presentation. (Note that you are assigned a 15 minute slot, but that your presentation is only allowed to be 10 minutes long. This is to allow for questions and speaker change. Don’t forget to go to the conference room in the break before your session and put your slides on the presentation laptop. You should introduce yourself to your session chair, who will also come to the room during the break.)
  • If there is no star, then you should prepare a two minute presentation.
  • Note that authors of two minute presentations will be asked to submit their slides in advance. Please watch your email for further instructions.
  • Information about the format of the poster boards (for your poster) and about the aspect ratio of the screen (for your slides) is in the general information above.
  • Papers in the Tuesday Sessions 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D and Best papers are presented in Poster Session 1 Period 1: 15:00-15:45 on Tuesday 22 October.
  • Papers in the Tuesday Sessions 2A 2B, 2C, 2D are presented in Poster Session 1 Period 2: 15:45-16:30 on Tuesday 22 October.
  • Papers in the Wednesday Sessions 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D are presented in Poster Session 2 Period 1: 15:00-15:45 on Wednesday 23 October.
  • Papers in the Thursday Sessions 5A, 5B, 5C & 5D are presented in Poster Session 2 Period 2: 15:45-16:30 on Wednesday 23 October.

During poster sessions, please help to prevent overcrowding by sticking to your assigned session/period. At any time that there is no danger of overcrowding, you are welcome, however, to stand at your poster.

Workshop papers

  • If you are presenting at a workshop, you will receive instructions from your workshop organizers, who will tell you how long your oral presentation is and/or when you will present your poster. The poster sizes and the slide aspect ratios above apply to workshops.
  • Workshop posters can be put up at the beginning of the workshop and taken down at the end of the workshop. Posters left up after the end of the workshop will be removed by the organizers.
  • Note that workshop papers may not have paper numbers (if so, ignore the instructions relating to paper numbers above).

Tutorial presenters

  • Please bring your own laptop and pointer (if you would like to use one).
  • Remember to make your slides (and any other materials) available after the workshop. Send the link to the tutorial chair, so that it can be added to the conference website.

Demo presenters

  • Please check the conference program https://acmmm.org/conference-program/ to see if your demo has been scheduled for Tuesday or for Wednesday and check in which session it has been scheduled (so that you know which room to set up in.)

  • You will be asked to submit one very simple slide for use in promoting your demo. Please watch your email for instructions.
  • On the day of your demo, put up the poster and install the demo during the morning coffee break.
  • You can be at your demo at any time during the day, but minimally you must be there during the demo session. (There will be an ACM MM 2019 volunteer in the room at all times, so it is possible to leave your demo running outside of the time of the demo session without standing next to it.)
  • Pack up your demo and your poster at the end of the demo session.
  • Each demo is provided with a poster board, a table, two chairs, wireless internet and an electrical outlet. Any other equipment that you need, you need to bring yourself. Please contact the Demo Chairs (MM19-DVC@sigmm.org) if you have questions.

  • All Grand Challenge authors must prepare a poster presenting their paper. The poster will be presented during the Tuesday poster session Tuesday 22 October 15:00-16:30. Please be at your poster during the entire session. During this session, the Grand Challenge jury will visit the posters.
  • Put up your poster on Tuesday morning on the poster board with your Paper ID and leave it hanging for the whole conference.
  • The jury will choose finalists for each task, which will be announced Wednesday 23 October in the evening at the banquet. Please be present at the banquet for the announcement.
  • Finalists will make a short presentation during the Grand Challenge session on Thursday afternoon Thursday 24 October 16:30-18:00. If you are selected as a finalist, you will need to quickly prepare an oral presentation. It is wise to plan for this in advance.
